Owed.
Privacy Policy
Effective 5 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Owed (“we”, “us”) collects from you, how we use it, and your rights. Owed is built by Bramley and is part of the Bramley family of personal-finance apps.
We try to keep this in plainspoken English. If anything is unclear, email us at support@bramley.one — we’ll explain.
What we collect
Owed runs almost entirely on your device. We’re listing every category of data so there are no surprises.
On-device only (we never see this)
- Your declared state. Used to match settlements that are limited to specific states.
- Your optional age range. Used to match settlements with age-bracket eligibility (e.g., minors-only or seniors-only class actions). Skippable.
- Brands you tap during the brand-history quiz. Used to match settlements where the brand is the eligibility trigger.
- Settlements you’ve opened or tracked. Used to schedule deadline reminders for those settlements.
All of this stays in encrypted storage on your phone (MMKV, AES-256-equivalent). It never leaves your device.
Owed+ subscription billing (handled by Apple)
If you subscribe to Owed+, the subscription is billed by Apple (App Store), not by us. We use RevenueCat as a thin layer to validate your purchase and unlock Owed+ features on your device.
- What RevenueCat sees: an anonymous device-bound ID and the receipt from Apple. RevenueCat does NOT see your real name, email, payment method, or any of the device-local data above. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
- What we see: RevenueCat tells us “this anonymous ID is an Owed+ subscriber: yes / no”. That’s it. We never get your payment info, your real identity, or anything beyond the subscription status.
You can cancel Owed+ anytime from Settings → Manage Owed+ (which deep-links to the iOS system subscriptions screen). Owed never charges you directly and never holds your payment info.
Push notifications (scheduled on your device)
Owed schedules local push notifications to remind you about deadlines on settlements you’ve tracked. These are scheduled entirely on your device using your OS’s standard local notification API.
- We do NOT send push notifications from a server.
- We do NOT collect a push notification token.
- We do NOT know when you receive a notification or whether you tap it.
You can disable notifications anytime in Settings → Deadline reminders, or in your OS settings.
What we explicitly do NOT collect
- Email address. We don’t ask for one.
- Phone number. We don’t ask.
- Bank account or financial data. Never. Owed is not in the payment path; we never see what claim administrators pay you.
- Account passwords. No accounts in Phase 1, no passwords.
- Location. We use your declared state, not your GPS location.
- Contacts, photos, microphone, camera. No permissions requested.
- Behavioral analytics. No event tracking, no funnel analysis, no third-party analytics SDKs.
- Advertising tracking. No advertising SDKs, no ad networks, no Apple IDFA collection.
What we don’t do
Owed is a discovery and reminder tool. We:
- Never file claims on your behalf. When you tap “Open claim form on administrator site”, we deep-link you to the official settlement administrator’s claim page. You complete the form there. We don’t see what you submit.
- Never act as a law firm. Owed surfaces settlements you may match; we never assert that you qualify or give legal advice. Every settlement match is framed as “you may match these criteria; verify on the administrator’s site.”
- Never sell or share your data with third parties. There’s nothing to sell — see above.
- Never use your data for advertising. No ads in Owed. No data sold to advertisers.
Your rights
Because Owed stores almost everything on your device:
- You can erase all of your Owed data anytime by uninstalling the app, OR via Settings → Reset profile. Uninstalling the app removes all local data.
- You can change your declared state, age, or brand selections anytime in Settings.
- You can disable deadline reminders anytime in Settings or in your OS notification settings.
If you’re a California resident (CCPA), an EU resident (GDPR), or in another jurisdiction with privacy rights laws: you have the right to know what data we hold about you, request deletion, and object to processing. For Owed Phase 1, the answer is short: we hold no personally identifiable information about you on our servers — all your data lives on your device. To delete it, uninstall the app.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data Owed collects, we’ll update this policy and tell you in-app before the change takes effect. The “Effective” date at the top of this page is the last time the policy was changed.
